This 90-minute yoga and Pilates workshop is designed to create the physical conditions for heart opening with strength, ease, and integrity.

Through an integrated sequence of Pilates-based strengthening and heart-opening yoga postures, you’ll explore how stability allows for safe, sustainable openness. Pilates work will provide the support needed to organize the body, while yoga postures will mobilize the spine and chest, releasing tension in the shoulders and neck.

Somatic awareness and breath are woven throughout the practice, allowing for emotional openness to arise naturally—without force.

This workshop offers a way to experience openness that is embodied, sustainable, and grounded.

This workshop offers an experiential introduction to somatic awareness as a way of reconnecting with your body, emotions, and inner sense of knowing. Through guided practices involving breath, gentle movement, and mindful attention, you’ll explore how thoughts and emotions show up physically—and how working with the body can support emotional regulation and resilience. Rather than fixing or analyzing, the focus is on noticing, listening, and building trust in your lived experience. You’ll leave with practical, somatic-based tools you can integrate into daily life to navigate stress, emotions, and change with greater ease and clarity.

Elizabeth Voetsch is a longtime teacher of yoga, meditation, and somatic awareness, with nearly twenty years of experience supporting embodied self-inquiry. This workshop is adapted from a course she designed and taught for the Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University.
